Seyyed Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri Shahroudi (born in 1961 in Qom, Iran) is an Iranian Twelver Shia cleric and jurist. He is one of the thinkers who have discussed the relationship between science and religion. Mirbagheri believes that sciences have epistemological orientations, based on which they can be categorized into religious and non-religious sciences. He advocates the Islamization of sciences, restrictions on cyberspace, and the concept of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist). He is critical of the worldviews of Rumi and Ibn Arabi. He believes in the continuous and inevitable conflict between the forces of truth and falsehood and maintains that Islam possesses a civilizational and social program.
